Hi, Malware, short for malicious software, is software designed to secretly access a computer system without the owner's informed consent. Malware includes computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware, and other malicious and unwanted software or program. Malware will perform a variety of nasty activities, ranging from simple email advertising all the way to complex identity-theft and password-stealing.I would strongly recommend you to run the Virus Scan.a. If you don’t have anti-virus software installed on your computer, I suggest that you run a Malware scan on your computer.http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/b. I would recommend you to run online Virus Scan to remove any infections, if present.Follow the link below to run the free online scan:http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm Regards,Manasa P – Microsoft Support.

I have Security Essentials installed on my PC. It obviously did not catch the file in question. I ran Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware software which did catch the file. The file was located within a microsoft folder, which made me question it validity being on the PC in the first place. It appears that no Microsoft support person knows anything about the file or filename or if it really is an issue. I havequarantined the file. Maybe I will get an answer in the future. Thanks.
